Alexander Wang's spring 2011 collection has some great gems that I am absolutely smitten with. His bags often have an urban rocker chic vibe to them with prominent stud or zipper detailing. Therefore, I was rather pleasantly surprised to find some more structured and streamlined pieces this time around. The rose gold hardware was the perfect choice to finish off these designs.
 
These bags would be lovely for spring/summer and with the blustery snowstorm today, I absolutely can't wait for the warmer weather.

Elie Saab Fall 2011 RTW

Fashion weeks have just flown right by and to be completely honest, I have not really been keeping up. However, I did manage to take a quick look at Elie Saab's collection and was immediately drawn to the following pieces.

Streamlined, simple, classic. They're not the most groundbreaking pieces ever but understated sophistication will always win me over. And of course, it's undoubtedly clear that I am still madly in love with neutrals.

Simple Pleasures

Procrastination always comes back to bite me and it was no surprise to find myself overwhelmed this week. After sleepless nights and countless hours trying to catch up, it's nice to appreciate the little things that can brighten up my day.


My favourite casual T-shirt dress with its loose fit and rich purple colour is made all the better by the addition of pockets. The pockets are unexpected but add a great utilitarian element to an otherwise basic dress. If only all my dresses could have pockets...


For storebought cookies, Mrs. Fields is undoubtedly my favourite. They are the perfect combination of soft and chewy that define any good cookie and, with a glass of milk, are a delightful pick-me-up snack.To sweeten the deal, I scored a box of these for 99 cents! The individual packaging is admittedly wasteful but it also encourages me to only indulge in one at a time.


A while back, I picked up this lovely figurine from Home Sense. I discovered it among a number of other random trinkets and desk adornments. It was the only one in the store and I immediately scooped it up. Its minimalist design draws the attention to the beautiful lines being created while the messy, random smears add contrast and character. And as I recently came to realize, it can display a few pieces of jewelry rather elegantly.

 I hadn't had Japanese food in a while and decided to try Ematei.

Overall, the food was good and I didn't have any problems with the service - all orders arrived quickly and the waitress was attentive. However, I definitely didn't feel like I sampled enough of the food to make a personal recommendation for this restaurant but I'll probably drop by there again when I'm in the area.

Inspiration: A Dreamy Touch

Such a beautiful Vogue Italia editorial shot by Sølve Sundsbø featuring Dutch model Melissa Tammerijn. The airy and ethereal atmosphere just draws me in. And of course, the styling is excellent - I completely adore lace and ruffles. The veils and floral headpieces are particularly interesting and lovely touches as well.  





I would love a close up on what appear to be gloves in the last picture - they add a certain unexpected edge.

Great Eggspectations

Dropped by Eggspectation, an all-day breakfast joint, a little while back. Even at 2 in the afternoon it was bustling with people and was clearly a favourite among families. Great service, and atmosphere (albeit a bit on the loud side).


The menu was quite extensive and I ended up settling on the Egg-chilada, which was okay but nothing particular spectacular. Essentially, it was an egg omelette with peppers and cheese. I like salsa and hot peppers and there was clearly a lot of both.There wasn't a strong cheese flavour though and I felt like it was slightly more mushy than I prefer.  I would definitely try something else next time. I will say that the potatoes hit the spot with the perfect balance of crispy and soft.

I am quite horrible at introductory posts but welcome to my blog. I won't try to narrow it down and say there is going to be one particular focus to it - just expect it to be a slice-of-life kind of blog. :)
